Indian benchmark equity indices dropped for the third consecutive session on Wednesday, as weak corporate earnings and ongoing foreign selling overshadowed early gains, including a rise in shares of non-bank lender Bajaj Finance.
The 30-share BSE Sensex fell by 138 points, or 0.17%, closing at 80,081, while the broader NSE Nifty decreased by 36 points, or 0.15%, finishing at 24,435. During the session, the Sensex reached an intraday high of 80,646.
