A summer open-door event showcasing the works and talents of three West Cork artists is taking place at The Yellow Door, in Baltimore until the end of August.
Sherkin Island-based painter Majella O’Neill Collins joins fellow artists, Paula Marten and Aisling Roche, for the showcase, which offers art enthusiasts an opportunity to experience the creativity and passion of their work, with talks throughout the summer.
Majella O’Neill Collins is a renowned painter and a lecturer on TU Dublin’s bachelor-of-visual arts course on Sherkin Island.
She brings the charm and resilience of island life to her paintings.
Inspired by the sea and her island surroundings, her work has garnered admiration from notable figures internationally, including George Clooney.
Artist and teacher Paula Marten is known for infusing her vibrant creations with a deep love for nature and West Cork.
Her work has been described as reflecting the impact that nature has on humanity, emphasising the importance of its positive influence.
Aisling Roche draws inspiration from the sea, and from Lough Hyne.
A spokesperson for the event said that her works evoke the serenity and fragility of the ocean’s ecosystem, reflecting the memories, dreams, and otherworldly experiences she encounters while swimming.
A standout feature of the open-door event is the opportunity to engage directly with the artists through scheduled and unscheduled talks.
All three artists will share the stories behind their creations, their inspirations, and insights into their creative processes.
An open-door artist talk will take place at The Yellow Door today Saturday, at 6pm.
