The European Fine Art Foundation announced Monday that TEFAF Maastricht will return to the Maastricht Exhibition & Conference Centre (MECC) from March 15-20, 2025. The 2025 edition with bring together 266 exhibitors from 21 countries to showcase 7,000 years of fine art, antiques, and design, just four galleries shy of their participation in 2024.
Still, of those galleries, 26 will be joining TEFAF in Maastericht for the first time, including France’s Galerie Lelong & Co., Thomas Deprez Fine Arts, Piano Nobile, and New York’s Marianne Boesky Gallery.
“We chose to attend Maastricht this year because I’ve always hear the most wonderful things about the both the fair’s quality and diversity of excellence throughout,” Boesky told ARTnews. So I finally began working on a series of ideas for special presentations we could do. Our first foray will be a solo booth of paintings by Danielle McKinney in the context of Edward Hopper. She and I are very excited.”
The TEFAF Showcase initiative, which supports young and emerging art dealers, will feature ten galleries in 2025, reflecting a broad range of expertise from African tribal art to Chinese porcelain. This year’s Showcase participants include galleries from Belgium, China, France, Spain, the UK, and the U.S., including Amanita, FENG J Joaillerie d’Art, and Galerie Nicolas Fournery, providing a platform for smaller dealers to reach new audiences and grow within the art market.
“As a foundation, TEFAF has rightly viewed support for young and emerging dealers as central to its mission,” Dominique Savelkoul, TEFAF’s new managing director, said in a press release. “Since the inception of Showcase in 2008, it has been the starting point for many leading international dealers. I hope this year’s participants will be inspired by the generations of galleries that have preceded them.”
The fair will also bring back TEFAF Focus, which debuted in 2024, allowing galleries to highlight a specific artist or concept for in-depth curatorial presentations across art history and mediums. This year, the Focus program will host galleries from France, the UK, and the U.S including Ketabi Bourdet, Ceysson & Bénétière , and Mariane Ibrahim with new additions Alexis Lartigue Fine Art, and Richard Saltoun Gallery.
Last year, a booth co-presented by Charles Ede and Sean Kelly in the then-newly inaugurated Focus section presented ancient Greek black and red vases alongside two chairs and two tables made of black, red, or white onyx by the Mexican designer Gloria Cortina and new work by the Scottish artist Callum Innes for a truly conceptual booth that was as aesthetically pleasing as it was temporally broad.
TEFAF Maastricht runs from March 15-20, with VIP previews on March 13 and 14.
