Celtic fans sent Snoop Dogg warning amid investment idea

The name of Celtic and Snoop Dogg have been linked with each other for years now. The rap icon has been pictured wearing the Glasgow club’s famous green-and-white kit in the past and he has also openly talked about his love for the Hoops. But now, it looks like there might be an eagerness to take things a step further.

Snoop Dogg recently suggested that he would be open to the idea of investing in Celtic, if the opportunity presented itself. That has led to plenty of debate in Scottish footballing circles.

On one hand, we have seen the success that has come to Wrexham as a direct result of their association with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Many believe that being associated with Snoop Dogg would boost the global appeal of Celtic as a club and could open up a lot of new opportunities.

But there are others who have raised their eyebrows at the idea. As reported by Glasgow World, while talking on talkSPORT, when asked whether he thought Snoop Dogg was a Celtic fan, former Wrexham boss Dean Saunders said:

“No. Do you know what as well? There are a few reasons why you buy a football club. One is because you like Football Manager, and you’ve got that much money that you think, ‘Why don’t I buy a real club? And I can pick the team and I can do tactics’ and then you realize you’ve got a manager, so you have to sack him.

“Or ego, to say you own a football club, or you’re trying to make money or lose money, in some cases. So what’s his motive?”

There might be a few reasons why Snoop Dogg would be interested in the idea of investing in Celtic. Firstly, it is pretty clear that he has had a soft spot for the club for years.

Secondly, who would not want to invest in a sports team these days? The value of teams around the world have sky-rocketed in recent years and it is not expected to stop anytime soon.

Even Snoop Dogg would struggle to make a significant investment in teams in a major American sports league, or a top club in the Premier League or La Liga. But Celtic do still have a lot of room for growth financially and as a global brand. Why would not he be interested?
