A proven healthcare executive on Long Island and beyond, Kevin Tuttle has been appointed associate dean for finance and administration at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.

In this position, Tuttle will oversee the finance and administration, staff human resources, information and technology and facilities of the school, working with the school’s leadership to maintain a responsive financial and administrative organization. This includes leading physical resource, construction, renovation and capital planning initiatives; developing, revising and implementing policies and procedures for school activities; preparing an annual budget and year-end financial report; and ensuring that the clinic and school comply with state and national regulations.

“I am excited to be returning to the Stony Brook team,” Tuttle said. “I look forward to working with Dean Lloyd and the team to advance and grow the SDM.”

Tuttle comes to Stony Brook after a successful five-year stint as vice president of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service Line at Northwell Health. Previously, he spent eight years with Stony Brook Medicine, first as the director of practice improvement and services, during which time he developed and implemented an ongoing performance improvement initiative for the Stony Brook University Physicians practices. Tuttle also promoted the adoption of a comprehensive set of service standards to foster a more positive and uniform patient experience. He then served as executive administrator in SBM’s Department of Medicine, leading the operational, financial, human resource management, program development and strategic planning for more than 120 providers in the Stony Brook network.

“We are so very fortunate to have been able to recruit an individual whose track record of success – everywhere he’s been – is very much evident,” said Patrick Lloyd, DDS, MS, dean of the School of Dental Medicine. “Kevin will be a wonderful addition to our leadership team and to the entire SDM community, and we look forward having him help shape the strategic direction of the school for many years to come.”

Tuttle’s past experience in healthcare also includes positions at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, Temple University Health System in Philadelphia, North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Manhasset, and North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills.

Tuttle earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, as well as his Master of Health Care Administration, from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds affiliations with the American Society for Quality, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Medical Group Management Association and National Association for Healthcare Quality.
