“Melodifestivalen 2025” First Rumored Artists – ESCBEAT


As always, Sweden will hold “Melodifestivalen” as the national final, to select both the artist and the song for Eurovision.

Swedish outlets Aftonbladet and Expressen revealed the names of 10 artists who are likely to participate in “Melodifestivalen 2025″.
As a disclaimer, we will once again clarify those are rumors, and not official release

“Melodifestivalen 2025” Rumored Artists

#1. Måns Zelmerlöw

The former Eurovision winner (“Heroes”, 2015) aims to claim the “Melodiestivalen 2025” trophy once again. His intended song was co-written by Ola Svensson (“Melodifestivalen” 2008, 2010, 2020), David Lindgren Zacharias, Sebastian Atas and the artist himself.

#2. Frans

Frans represented Sweden on home soil in 2016 with the song “If I Were Sorry.” At 16, he ended up in 5th place in the final.
According to Aftonbladet, he is ready to compete in “Melodiestivalen” again.

    #3. John Lundvik

    John Lundvik represented Sweden in Eurovision 2019 with “Too Late For Love, and ended in 5th place in the final.
    Lundvik is expected to return to “Melodiestivalen” with an upbeat song.
    So far, he has participated 3 times in the national selection (2018, 2019, 2022).

    #4. Arvingarna

    The band represented Sweden in Eurovision 1993 with the song “Eloise” and ended in the 7th place. So far, the band has competed 6 times in “Melodifestivalen“, with the recent attempt in 2021.

    #5. Scarlet

    The beloved Swedish heavy metal duo was formed in 2018.
    Their Melodifestivalen debut was in 2024 with the song “Circus X”

    According to Aftonbladet, their “Melodifestivalen 2025” song is considered as a strong contender.

    #6. Malou Prytz

    The 21-year-old Swedish singer is likely to return to the contest.
    So far, she has 3 “Melodiestivalen” participations in her pocket.
    Her first participation was in 2019 when she was 16 years old.
    This time, she plans to return with a big pop song.

    #7. Klara Hammarström

    The 24-year-old Swedish singer is likely to try her luck in the contest once again.
    She has competed in “Melodifestivalen” 3 times in a row, in 2021-2023, with the last 2 times finishing 6th in the final.
    This time, her song was reportedly co-written by Cazzi Opeia, who also one of the writers of Eurovision 2023 winning song “Tattoo” by Loreen.

    #8. Dolly Style

    The girl-pop group is aiming to return to the contest.
    So far, they have competed 3 times in “Melodifestivalen” (2015, 2016, 2019).
    However, this time they will compete as a team of 4 (and not a trio).
    They will probably perform a country-pop song.

    #9. Andreas Lundstedt

    The singer is well-known due to his former “Melodifestivalen” attempts as part of Alcazar.
    The band has participated in the national selection 5 times, with 3 times ending in the 3rd place.
    In addition, Andreas has also competed as a solo artist 4 times.
    We can expect him performing another disco song.

    #10. Kaliffa

    The 44-year-old Kaliffa Olle Karlsson is reportedly about to make his “Melodifestivalen” debut.
    The song is expected to be in the style of Medina’s “Melodifestivalen” entries

    “Melodifestivalen 2025” – Known Details

    1. The professional committee will shortlist 30 songs to compete in the live shows. Some of them will be chosen from the applications, while others from artists who have received invitations from SVT.
    2. The selection will feature 5 semi-final and a grand final:
      1. Semi-Final 1: Saturday 1st of February 2025, Luleå (Coop Norrbotten Arena)
      2. Semi-Final 2: Saturday 8th of February 2025, Gothenburg (Scandinavium)
      3. Semi-Final 3: Saturday 15th of February 2025, Västerås (Västerås Arena)
      4. Semi-Final 4: Saturday 22nd of February 2025, Malmö (Malmö Arena)
      5. Semi-Final 5: Saturday 1st of March 2025, Jönköping (Husqvarna Garden)
      6. Final: Saturday 8th of March 2025, Stockholm (Strawberry Arena)
    3. 6 artists will take part in each semi-final. The top 2 will qualify for the final.
    4. Unlike previous editions, the songs will be released one day before each semi-final (and not just snippets!)
    5. The artists who will finish in the 4th, 5th and 6th place (in each semi-final) will be eliminated.
    6. At the end of the 5th semi-final,
      • The highest scoring 3rd-place song (out of possible 5) will get a ticket to the final
      • The remaining 4 artists will face additional voting rounds. The winner will qualify for the final.
    7. The results of the semi-finals will be determined by a public vote
    8. 12 artists will make it to the final, where the results will be based on a 50% public vote and 50% international jury vote.

    Marcus & Martinus represented Sweden at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Unforgettable”.
    They finished in 9th place with 174 points.

    Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
