Apple’s latest ‘Setlist’ feature on its music-streaming service Apple Music enables artists to create custom playlists they will be performing at concerts. This can then be paired with a Bandsintown account to include all the details of the upcoming shows, including dates and performance locations.
According to Apple, “This can be a fun way to announce a future tour, reach fans who couldn’t make the live experience, or reconnect with those that were at your show.” Artists will also have the option to hide or delete select setlists.
How does this impact users and artists?
The new feature can help artists spread the word about upcoming performances on a platform that’s already being used to listen to their creations. With the ability to share these playlists across social media platforms, they can also spread awareness about upcoming events in an organic way.
For Apple Music users, the new setlist feature ensures that they are well informed about all the upcoming live shows from their favourite artists on the same app they listen to those artists.
